National Health Center Week (August 4th - 10th) is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishment's of community health centers. The theme of this year's celebration is "America's Health Centers: Rooted in Communities."
Holyoke Health Center was joined by Congressman Richard Neal and Mayor Alex Morse on Thursday, August 8th during National Health Center Week for a formal announcement from CEO, Jay Breines, on HHC's new programs and resources that support the health center's goal of providing increased access to health care to community members. HHC's recent efforts include the construction project for our new Community Health Programs department that will provide an additional 6,000 sq ft. of patient care space for our Medication Assisted Treatment program for patients with substance use disorders, as well as the HIV/AIDS care and counseling and testing services. HHC has also added a Public Health Dentist to our Portable Pediatric Dental Program in the Holyoke and Chicopee Public Schools, and we are targeting 25 schools in the area this school year, a 50% growth from last year.
